'Becoming' represents a person in the process of both a physical and spiritual transition. The head remains deliberately indistinct and almost foetus-like, with fibrous swirls of colour in the centre of the portrait like loose strands of DNA.
 
The capturing of a metamorphosis is a theme which persists throughout Warren King's work. The artist believes that all people have the right to contradict assumptions made about their personality and that humans possess an enormous capacity for change. The characters within his work aim to demonstrate this process.
