The sculpture represented in this painting was created in Greece, around 450BCE. Whilst many Roman copies have been made since; the original artist remains unknown.
Tiffany Barber's take on the artwork focuses on how precious our time is and how often it feels like it's running away from us. Life is often complex and fast paced and it can be hard to keep up with the ever-changing realities of the 21st Century. Many can empathise with the loss of celebrations, jobs, family members and opportunities experienced as a result of 2 years spent battling a global pandemic; a time when life felt as though it were placed on pause.
The message of the piece is poignant: we are all playing a game of catch up in a world that already demands so much of our time.
